How to make your text appear more smoother in Windows

What font anti-aliasing does is it makes all the text displayed on your PC appear much smoother than normal. The effect is pretty nice and makes the text more readable.

In Apple’s Mac, font anti-aliasing is enabled by default. If you’re thinking you can’t make your text smoother in Windows, then you’re wrong. Even though the option to anti-alias your text is available, it’s disabled by default.

Note that font anti-aliasing is only possible on Windows XP and I think is enabled by default in Vista.

Here’s how to enable text/font anti-aliasing in Windows XP:

Step: 1

Go to your desktop, right click on the wallpaper and click Properties.

Step: 2

Now, the Display Properties window opens. Click on the Appearance tab and then click on the Effects button as shown in the picture above.

Step: 3

Now, the Effects window opens. Click the checkbox (if already not checked) where the top-most cursor is placed. After that, click on the drop down menu as shown and select ClearType instead of standard. Click on OK and click on Apply in the Display Properties window.

Voila! That’s it you’re done. Now you’ll see smooth fonts…enjoy…

I have ClearType enabled also and I recommend you do it too. Windows looks much better with font smoothing enabled…
