MMORPGs Continued...

Ok, sorry for the delay...But here's the continuation of the MMORPG post:

MY FAVORITE MMOGs

Personally, my favorite MMOGs are Gunz: The Duel and A3. I can never forget those ones.

A3

A3 stands for Art, Alive, Attraction. It’s mainly a region-based Fantasy genre MMORPG, with a Korean version and an Indian one. Unless you know Korean, I highly doubt you can play the Korean version. In the Indian version, the language is English, so you can play it. Also A3India is pretty cheap in terms of cost per month. It can be from $2 - $5 per month, which, if you compare with other MMOGs, is waaay cheap. The graphics are very good and the gameplay is enticing.

A3 is based on the eternal power struggle between immortals and humans and has a compelling storyline of love, hatred and revenge that unfolds over several episodes. The adventures and battles in A3 take place in the harsh lands of ‘Hellmarsh’.

Gunz: The Duel

As the name suggests, this game involves guns. It’s basically a MMOTPS (Massively Multiplayer Online Third Person Shooter), though some people might disagree. It’s one of the few games I’ve seen which has elements of a shooter blended in with elements of a RPG. No, it is not purely fighting and fighting only, you can also do quests. And the nice thing about this online game is that it also features melee battles with a sword!

If you have a nice PC and your internet connection is also pretty good, then you can enjoy very nice graphics and gameplay without any ‘ping’ or ‘laag’ problems. There are five popular versions (there are a few more, but I tell only about the popular ones J) as of now. They are:

  1. International Gunz
  2. Japanese Gunz
  3. Korean Gunz
  4. Indian Gunz
  5. North American Gunz

The story is basically the same, the only difference between the different versions is the language and the progress the game has made so far. Both Japanese and Korean Gunz are the most progressed, they have the most members, all new maps and premiums and other small additions. International Gunz was released after these two, but hasn’t made much progress yet, though it certainly is popular (but the lag or ping problem is a huge one in this version, since there are players from all parts of the world). Indian and North American Gunz are recent entities. Both of these versions are making quick progress, especially the latter one, which recently went from Open Beta into the premium stage.

Unless you are a Japanese or Korean citizen, you can’t play the Korean & Japanese version of this game (even if you know Japanese or Korean) because it’s against the TOS of these versions. International is pretty laagy and unless you have an awesome internet connection, I certainly am against you joining this version. The versions I recommend to join are either the North American (also known as ijji) Gunz or the Indian Gunz.

In Gunz, unlike other MMOGs, you don’t pay a penny for playing the game EVER, even when it goes into the premium stage. You have the option to buy premium items which are customized and are much better if you compare them with their normal counterparts. And even these items are pretty cheap to buy.

Since I don’t know the website of all of the versions, you can go to the International Gunz website and then click on any version name on the main page to go to the specific website. The International Gunz website is: www.gunzonline.com

The rest as usual next time :)
